​I am a British journalist, currently working as the culture editor at The New Statesman magazine in London. I have also written regularly for The Financial Times, The Times, The Guardian, The TLS, The Washington Post, etc. I served as a judge for the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction.
